Blizzard Warning
Issued: 3:07 AM MST Feb. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Blizzard Warning in effect until 11 am MST Friday...

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a Blizzard
Warning, which is in effect until 11 am MST Friday. The Winter
Storm Warning is no longer in effect.

* Timing... snow, heavy at times, will continue through Friday
morning. Strong winds will persist through at least early this
afternoon before gradually decreasing.

* Total snow accumulations... 10 to 15 inches over northern parts
of Carbon County including Muddy Gap. Otherwise, generally 6 to
12 inches across western Carbon County.

* Winds/visibility... northwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph
through late afternoon, shifting to the northeast 15 to 25 mph
in the evening. Visibilities will be frequently reduced to one
quarter of a mile or less today.

* Impacts... the combination of heavy snow and strong winds will
cause significant blowing and drifting snow with extremely low
visibilities and near whiteout conditions. Travel across western
Carbon County will be extremely dangerous or impossible today!
Avoid travel!

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions... making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If
you must travel... have a winter survival kit with you. If you get
stranded... stay with your vehicle.
