Watches & Warnings

Wind Chill Watch, Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 3:26 AM MST Dec. 7, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 am MST early
this morning...
... Wind chill watch in effect from this evening through Thursday
morning...

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a wind chill
watch... which is in effect from this evening through Thursday
morning.

* Timing... through 6 am Wednesday morning.

* Total snow accumulations... 2 to 5 inches... highest over the
southern Laramie range.

* Winds/visibility... northeast 10 to 20 mph with visibilities
around one mile at times.

* Wind chill values... wind chills tonight may fall to 30 to 40
below zero in the Laramie valley and southern Laramie range.
Elsewhere... values look to range from 25 to 35 below zero.

* Impacts... light to moderate snow will create travel
difficulties... creating periods of hazardous travel conditions
due to low visibilities and slick roads. Very low wind chill
values will be dangerous to those caught outdoors and
unprepared. Frost bite or hypothermia may develop quickly if
precautions are not taken.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered
roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.

A wind chill watch means the there is the potential for a
combination of very cold air and strong winds to create
dangerously low wind chill values. Monitor the latest forecasts
and warnings for updates on this situation.
