... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Wednesday afternoon through
late Thursday night...

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a Winter
Storm Watch, which is in effect from Wednesday afternoon through
late Thursday night.

* Timing... periods of snow will begin tonight across the Sierra
Madre and snowy ranges as a cold front moves into the area and
stalls. Snowfall will become steady and heavier on Wednesday.

* Total snow accumulations... 12 to 18 inches with locally higher
amounts across west and north facing slopes and ridges

* winds/visibility... southwest 20 to 30 mph with higher
gusts... becoming north on Thursday. Visibilities below one half
mile in falling snow and patchy blowing snow.

* Impacts... mainly to travel and outdoor recreation. Mountain
travel will be dangerous with slick snowpacked roads and low
visibilities Wednesday through Thursday night.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
