The National Weather Service in La Crosse WI has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Kickapoo river at Gays Mills.
* Until Thursday afternoon.
* At 5:48 am Wednesday the stage was 12.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by this morning and continue to
rise to near 14.3 feet by this morning. The river will fall below
flood stage by today.
* Impact... at 13.0 feet... water begins to cover roads near the river,
including Sand Hill Road near Bell Center. Minor flooding occurs in
areas adjacent to the river, including Robb Park in Gays Mills.

533 am CDT Wed Aug 24 2016

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 830 am CDT for
Crawford and Richland counties...

At 530 am CDT... local law enforcement reported flooding from the
Kickapoo river in the community of Bell Center south of Gays Mills.
There are other Road ways damaged and they are performing a water
Rescue along Highway 131.

Richland County reported several spots around the County with water
over roadsways, especially near bridges.

Excessive rainfall over the warned area will cause mud slides near
steep terrain. The mud slide can consist of rock... mud... vegetation
and other loose materials.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Prairie Du Chien... Richland Center... Boscobel... Clayton... Westport...
Excelsior... Bridgeport... Lone Rock... Seneca...
Rockbridge and Wauzeka.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams... rivers... or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.

the Kickapoo river at Steuben.
* Until Thursday morning.
* At 4:45 am Wednesday the stage was 11.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by this morning and continue to
rise to near 13.0 feet by this morning. The river will fall below
flood stage by today.
* Impact... at 13.0 feet... bridge street near the gage begins to flood
and Highway 179 may be threatened.

* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of southwest Wisconsin...
including the following areas... Crawford... Richland and
Vernon.

* Until noon CDT today

* thunderstorms with heavy rainfall of 2 to 3 inches... locally
higher amounts possible.

* Be especially cautious at night when its harder to recognize
flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
