Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Warning
Issued: 4:21 PM CDT Jul. 23, 2016 – National Weather Service

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 600 PM CDT for
western Clayton... southwestern Allamakee and southwestern Crawford
counties...

At 416 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated three to five inches of rain
have already fallen across the warned area. While the heaviest
rainfall has now moved eastward into far southwest Wisconsin, an
additional half inch of rain is possible through 600 PM. Flash
flooding will continue as water moves into and through the river
system.

Campers near rivers and streams should consider evacuation as water
levels rise rapidly.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Prairie Du Chien... Elkader... Postville... Monona... McGregor...
Marquette... Farmersburg... Volga... Hardin... Bridgeport... and Wauzeka.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams... rivers... or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
