Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 5:17 PM PST Feb. 21, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Wednesday afternoon...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of north Idaho and Washington, including the
following counties, in north Idaho, Benewah, Kootenai, Latah,
and Shoshone. In Washington, Spokane and Whitman.

* Through Wednesday afternoon

* Shoshone... Latah... and Benewah counties: this afternoon
through tonight... up to an additional quarter inch of
precipitation falling as rain and wet snow below 2500 feet and
mainly snow above 2500 feet.

* Paradise creek is showing sharp rises this evening as this
afternoon's rain drains into the basin. Elevations above 2500
feet have transitioned to snow and runoff show begin to slow
down this evening. As of 5pm... the creek was at 8.87 feet which
could lead to some backing of water through storm drains on
Roosevelt street.

* Spokane and Kootenai counties: rain and wet snow is slowly
moving out of Washington this evening. An additional tenth of
an inch will be possible in Spokane and Whitman counties and
quarter of an inch in Kootenai County before ending this
evening. Elevations above 2500 feet will likely receive snow...
but lower elevations especially in southern portions of
Spokane and Kootenai counties will receive rain or rain/snow
mix.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
