Flood Warning
Issued: 11:52 PM PST Dec. 12, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Skokomish River near Potlatch
* from 1 am Thursday until late Friday night.
* At 11:30 PM Wednesday the stage was 16.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.5 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will rise above flood stage around 1 am
Thursday and crest near 17.7 feet around 4 PM Thursday. The river
will fall below flood stage Friday evening.
* Impact... at 17.5 feet, the Skokomish River will cause moderate
flooding, with deep and quick flood waters inundating some
residential areas, many roads, and much of The Farm land in the
Skokomish Valley. Inundated roads include the Skokomish Valley
Road, bourgault Road west, Purdy cutoff Road, and Highway 106.

Areal Flood Watch

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Thursday afternoon...

The Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of northwest Washington, including the following
counties, Clallam, Grays Harbor, and Jefferson.

* Through Thursday afternoon

* heavy rain will continue on the olympic peninsula which will
drive area rivers up substantially, including the bogachiel.
This may be enough rain for the bogachiel to exceed flood stage.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a Wind
Advisory, which is in effect until noon PST Thursday.

* Wind... south wind 20 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph.

* Some affected locations...

* timing... wind rising during the evening and peaking Thursday
morning.

* Impacts... winds may be strong enough to down tree limbs,
causing local power outages.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds
this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
