* Douglas County tornado (ef-0): two separately posted facebook
videos were used to estimate the time and location of a tornado
that occurred rural southern Douglas County. One video was shot
near Coulee City WA apparently looking west or northwest.
Another video was shot by a Farmer 13 miles east of Mansfield
Washington. This video appeared to have been shot looking east.
At this time... there have been no reports of damage. Both videos
show the tornado over an open Dryland wheat field.

* Spokane County tornado (ef-0): an off-duty National Weather
Service employee took video of a short-lived tornado that
occurred east-northeast of Airway Heights Washington. A second
off-duty National Weather Service employee reported seeing roof
damage (sheet metal) to an outbuilding near the intersection of
Flint Road and West Greenwood Road which is approximately 2
miles east-northeast of Airway Heights Washington.

* The enhanced f-scale (ef scale) was developed by a team of
meteorologists and wind engineers to estimate wind speed from
observed wind damage. EF-0 is defined as wind gusts between 65
and 85 mph. Sheet metal damage to farm outbuildings falls under
the EF-0 rating for the Spokane County tornado. Since no
structural damage occurred with the tornado in Douglas
County... it was assigned an EF-0 rating by default.

* The line of thunderstorms that spawned the brief tornado in
Spokane County intensified and produced straight-line wind
damage over portions of the north Spokane Metro. Between 4 PM
and 430 PM... damage to trees and powerlines occurred in the
Mead... Green Acres... and wandermere areas. Hail to the size of
nickels and walnuts were also reported with this line of
thunderstorms as it move through the city of Spokane and its
northern suburbs.

* The state of Washington averages about 2 tornados a year
according to the storm events database maintained by the
National Weather Service and the National climate data center.
