Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 3:18 PM EDT Apr. 20, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday morning...

The Flood Watch continues for

* northern, central and eastern Vermont.

* Through Sunday morning.

* Rainfall will continue to taper off from west to east through
the remainder of the afternoon and early evening hours.
However, it will take some time for runoff associated with
snowmelt and new rainfall to make it into already swollen
rivers. This will cause rivers to continue to slowly rise
through the evening hours before beginning to crest late tonight
into early Sunday morning.

* Mainstem rivers including the Winooski, LaMoille, Passumpsic,
missisquoi and Wells rivers will remain above flood stage
through tonight into Sunday morning with some moderate flooding
expected along the LaMoille and Passumpsic rivers.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Persons with interests in flood prone areas along Lake Champlain
should take action to protect their property. The combination of
wind and wave action will enhance flood effects on windward
facing shores, and may cause additional damage to shoreline roads
and low lying areas.
