Winter Weather Advisory

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 10 am this
morning to 7 am EST Wednesday...

* locations... southern Vermont... the Berkshires and Litchfield
County.

* Hazard types... freezing rain... snow and sleet.

* Snow and sleet accumulations... up to 1 inch across the
Litchfield Hills and lower elevations in the Berkshires... with
2 to 6 inches across higher elevations of the Berkshires and
southern Green Mountains... as well as across eastern Windham
County Vermont.

* Ice accumulations... one tenth to one quarter of an inch...
mainly across higher elevations. Mainly less than one tenth of
an inch across lower elevations.

* Timing... very light precipitation in the form of freezing
rain... sleet or snow is possible late this morning to early this
afternoon. Steadier precipitation is expected to develop later
this afternoon and continue into tonight. Precipitation will be
alternating between freezing rain... sleet and snow across
southern Vermont and the Berkshires tonight... and rain with
pockets of freezing rain across the Litchfield Hills. The
steadiest snowfall will be across southern Vermont. Precipitation
will taper off toward daybreak Wednesday.

* Impacts... snow and ice covered roadways will make for
hazardous travel. Untreated walkways... driveways and sidewalks
will be very slippery. Some isolated to scattered power
outages are possible in areas that receive the most
significant freezing rain.

* Winds... east 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

* Temperatures... in the lower to middle 30s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
