* until 800 PM EDT

* at 454 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain moving across the warned area. Up to one inch of rain
has already fallen. Additional very heavy rainfall of 1 to 3
inches is expected over the next few hours. Flash flooding is
expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Highland Springs... Roxbury... Mechanicsville... East Highland Park...
bottoms bridge... bensley... Richmond international... Wayside...
Fair Oaks... Varina... Elko... Barnetts... Glendale... Montrose...
Sandston and chamberlayne.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small

western Hanover and western Henrico (including the city of
richmond). In east central Virginia... Charles City... eastern
Essex... eastern King William... eastern King And Queen... New

western King And Queen and Westmoreland. In north central

* Until midnight EDT tonight

* locally heavy rainfall from showers and thunderstorms is
expected across the region through this evening. Rainfall
amounts up to 1 to 2 inches are possible. This will occur over
areas that received excessive rainfall Wednesday evening.
Excessive runoff from heavy rain increases the potential for
flooding across the area especially for locations that have
received recent heavy rain, and for low lying and poor drainage
areas.
