Special Statement
Issued: 3:38 AM CDT Jul. 26, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Elevated heat index values expected each afternoon today
through much of the week...

Afternoon heat index values will peak during the afternoons in
the 104 to 108 degree range for portions of south central Texas
today through much of the week. The heat index in some isolated
spots east of I-35 could reach up to 110 degrees. These elevated
heat index values could become more widespread through the week
resulting in possible heat advisories.

Regardless if a heat advisory is issued or not, please take extra
precautions if you work or spend time outside in the afternoon.
Stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade or an air conditioned
building. Limit strenuous outdoor activities and check up on the
elderly, sick and those without air conditioning. Never leave
children or pets unattended in a vehicle... even for a couple
minutes... and remember to look before you lock!
