Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 3:43 PM CDT Jun. 4, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 PM CDT this
evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Texas and southeast Texas... including
the following Jackson. ... Austin... Brazoria... Brazos...
Burleson... Chambers... Colorado... Fort ... Bend... Galveston...
Grimes... Harris... Houston... Liberty... Madison... Matagorda...
Montgomery... Polk... San Jacinto... Trinity... Walker... Waller...
Washington and Wharton.

* Until 7 PM CDT this evening

* an upper level low pressure system will remain centered over
south Texas this weekend. Upper level disturbances rotating
around this feature will trigger periods of showers and
thunderstorms across the region. On average most locations can
anticipate 1/2 to 2 inches of rainfall today... but localized
swaths of much higher totals between 4 and 7 inches are possible
where slow moving storms or training cells set up. Although no
locations can be completely ruled out... it appears the more
susceptible areas for the localized heavier amounts will be
south of a Brenham to Cleveland line.

* Due to already saturated soils... even fairly brief intense
rainfall rates can easily cause roadway and low land flooding
over urban areas.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

If traveling on local roadways and come upon water covering the
Road of unknown depth... please turn around... do not drown!

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
