Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 8:45 AM CDT Jun. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a

* flood advisory for rapid creek and stream rises in...
northeastern Mills County in central Texas...
southern Comanche County in central Texas...

* until 1045 am CDT.

* At 843 am CDT, Doppler radar and rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms continued to produce heavy rainfall along Highway 16
between Comanche and Goldthwaite. Automated rain gauges in the
area have already reported rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches
across the area. Excessive runoff from these thunderstorms will
cause small stream flooding, as well as flood typical low-lying
areas. This means some low water crossings may become impassable.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Comanche, Gustine and Mullin.

Additional rainfall of an inch or more is possible over the advisory
area. This additional rain will only continue any minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams.
Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
