Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch, Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 10:55 AM CDT May. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 1 PM CDT this
afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of southeast Texas... including the following
counties... Brazoria... Chambers... Fort Bend... Galveston...
Harris and Liberty.

* Until 1 PM CDT this afternoon

* an upper level disturbance will be passing overhead today and
generate showers and thunderstorms across the region. On
average, 1 to 3 inches of rain can be expected over the watch
area. Most of the region can handle these totals with minimal
impacts. However, a surface low situated closer to the coast may
focus periods of much heavier downpours and lead to some much
higher rain totals as it moves east today... possibly in excess
of 5 inches at some locations. This would lead to some flash
flooding issues such as street, creek and possibly river
flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...

Island west end, Texas City, southern Friendswood, La Porte, Alvin,
Dickinson, La Marque, Santa Fe, Seabrook, Webster, Hitchcock,
