A tropical disturbance pushing toward the Bahamas, is expected to develop into a tropical depression or storm, and will likely target Florida and the Gulf Coast this weekend into next week.

Right now, the disturbance remains a broad area of low pressure pushing through the Dominican Republic and Haiti, headed toward the southeast Bahamas. Rainfall totals over 3 inches (with locally higher amounts) are expected in HispaƱiola, particularly over elevated terrain.

... A Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 400 PM CDT
for southwestern gray and northwestern Donley counties...

At 341 PM CDT... a severe thunderstorm was located 5 miles southeast
of Groom... or 16 miles northwest of Clarendon... moving northeast at
15 mph.

Hazard... 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

Source... radar indicated.

Impact... minor damage to roofs... siding... and trees is possible.
         Hail damage to vehicles is expected.

This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
southwestern gray and northwestern Donley counties.

This includes Interstate 40 between mile markers 116 and 126.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading
killers. Remember... if you can hear thunder... you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm... and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
