Flood Warning
Issued: 2:54 AM CDT Jun. 21, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the mission river at Refugio.
* Until Friday morning... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 2:00 am Thursday the stage was 23.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 23.0 feet.
* Forecast: the river will continue rising to near 23.9 feet by late
this morning. The river will fall below flood stage late this
afternoon.

* At 23.0 feet minor lowland flooding occurs. The lowest areas of the
City Park and facilities, including the Pavillion building are
flooded. Much of park is also flooded.

The Flood Warning continues for the Copano Creek near Refugio.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 8:30 PM Wednesday the stage was 13.1 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Forecast: the river will remain at near 13 feet through
Thursday afternoon, and then begin a slow fall.
* At 12.0 feet minor lowland flooding occurs.

Flash Flood Watch

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect through Thursday afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* a portion of south Texas, including the following areas,
Aransas islands, coastal Aransas, coastal Kleberg, coastal
Nueces, coastal Refugio, coastal San Patricio, Duval, inland
Kleberg, inland Nueces, inland Refugio, inland San Patricio, Jim
Wells, Kleberg islands, and Nueces islands.

* Through Thursday afternoon

* persistent heavy rainfall due to tropical moisture has lead to
flash flooding over the watch area. Over the past several days,
5 to over 10 inches of rainfall fell in some areas. Additional
rainfall with rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour or higher will
likely cause water to rapidly accumulate over these areas.

* Additional amounts of 1 to 2 inches can be expected across the
coastal Bend area through this afternoon. As with nearly all
flash flood events, locally higher amounts will be possible.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
