Record Report
Issued: 4:06 PM CDT Aug. 23, 2016 – National Weather Service

... A very wet August has resulted in many locations across the four
state region now ranking in the top 5 consecutive days on record with
measurable rainfall...

After observering only sporatic or little rainfall during June... July...
and the first half of August... a weak upper level low pressure system and
attendant trough of low pressure lingered over the region from August 13th
through the 22nd... resulting in periods of showers and thunderstorms over
much of East Texas... extreme southeast Oklahoma... southwest Arkansas and
north Louisiana. As a result... measurable rainfall was recorded at many
locations each day... either tying or setting the number of consecutive
days with measurable rainfall in August... and ranking in the top 5 at any
time throughout the year.

Aside from only isolated showers and thunderstorms that may affect portions
of East Texas and north Louisiana this afternoon... most locations should
remain dry... thus ending this run of consecutive days with measurable
rain.

Below is a list of stations across the region which have recorded a set
number of consecutive days with measurable rain and how they ranked
during August and throughout any time during the year:
