... Above normal releases at Norris dam expected this afternoon...

Due to the rising pool elevations on Norris Lake brought about by
the recent heavy rain, TVA plans to begin releasing roughly
18,000 cfs through Norris dam this afternoon. The rises in the
river downstream of the dam will be noticeable, but they are not
expected to produce anything worse than minor nuisance flooding in
some spots. Clinton is the primary town along the river in this
area.
