Watches & Warnings

Blizzard Watch
Issued: 8:57 PM CST Feb. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Blizzard watch remains in effect from Thursday afternoon
through Friday afternoon...

* timing... snow will spread into the area by midday Thursday,
then continue heavy at times Thursday night into Friday. Snow
should diminish Friday afternoon.

* Accumulations... storm total snow accumulations of 6 to 12
inches are likely, with amounts in excess of 12 inches
possible.

* Wind and visibility... winds will increase from the north
around 25 to 35 mph by Thursday afternoon into Friday.
Visibility is expected to be reduced to less than a quarter of
a mile at times while snow is falling.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A blizzard watch means there is a potential for falling and/or
blowing snow with strong winds and extremely poor visibilities.
This can lead to whiteout conditions and make travel very
dangerous.
