Coastal Hazard Statement
Issued: 3:40 PM AST May. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High rip current risk in effect through Thursday afternoon...

The National Weather Service in San Juan has issued a high rip
current risk, which is in effect through Thursday afternoon.

* Location... northwest to northeast beaches of Puerto Rico.

* Timing... through Thursday afternoon.

* Impacts... strong currents that can carry away even the best of
swimmers.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

There is a high risk of rip currents.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
