* Web page: for a detailed view of the hazard area visit
http://www.Wrh.NOAA.Gov/map/?Wfo=pdt.

High Wind Warning, Wind Advisory
Issued: 10:05 AM PST Jan. 18, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High Wind Warning remains in effect until 6 PM PST this
evening...
... Wind Advisory remains in effect from 6 PM this evening to 4 am
PST Thursday...

* winds... south 35 to 50 mph with gusts to 60 mph across the
south end of the valley. Elsewhere 25 to 35 mph with gusts up
to 50 mph.

* Timing... very strong winds will continue through today over

Union... Hot Lake and the La Grande Airport. Very windy
conditions will continue elsewhere through today. Winds will
decrease some late this afternoon... but will still remain very
windy to locally strong into tonight.

* Impacts... the strong winds will cause cross winds and areas of
blowing and drifting snow with visibility less than one
quarter mile at times. This will make driving very hazardous.
Also these winds can cause damage to structures and make loose
objects become airborne.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds
this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
