... Heat advisory remains in effect until 8 PM PDT Monday...
* minimum temperatures tonight... 55 to 65 degrees; possibly as
warm as the lower 70s in urban areas.
* Maximum temperatures Monday... 92 to 97 degrees.
* Timing... temperatures will be slow to cool this evening, with
many areas only falling into the 70s or lower 80s by midnight.
Only the coolest outlying areas will see significant relief late
tonight and early Monday morning, before temperatures warm well
into the 90s again Monday afternoon.
* Impacts... hot temperatures and limited relief overnight will
increase chances for heat related illness, especially for
sensitive groups and people without access to air conditioning.
Heat stress is also possible for livestock and outdoor pets.
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. Hot temperatures will create a situation in which heat
related illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in
an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sunshine, and check up
on relatives and neighbors.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the occupational safety and
health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency, call 9 1 1.
