the Flood Warning continues for
the Arkansas River near Haskell.
* Until further notice.
* At 4:00 PM Sunday, the stage was 23.23 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the Arkansas River near Haskell will continue rising to
near 23.7 feet Tuesday morning and remain at that level through
Wednesday. The river will then fall to near 23.6 feet late Wednesday
night and remain at that level.
* Impact... at 23.0 feet, widespread agricultural flooding occurs. Some
local roads become inundated. This is a dangerous situation.

the Flood Warning continues for
the Arkansas River near Muskogee.
* Until further notice.
* At 3:00 PM Sunday, the stage was 46.35 feet.
* Flood stage is 28.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the Arkansas River near Muskogee is near its crest
and is expected to begin slowly falling late tonight. The
river will remain above 44.4 feet through Friday.
* Impact... at 37.0 feet, very severe flooding occurs along the
Arkansas River near Muskogee. Buildings on the og&e Power Plant
are flooded. The flood of October 6, 1986 reached 39.6 feet. This
is an extremely dangerous and life threatening situation.

* Flood Warning for...
northeastern Haskell County in southeastern Oklahoma...
southern Sequoyah County in east central Oklahoma...
north central Le Flore County in southeastern Oklahoma...
east central Muskogee County in east central Oklahoma...

* until 830 am CDT Monday.

* At 828 am CDT, 5 to 8 inches of rain have fallen across northeast
Oklahoma over the past few days and is causing significant rises
along the Arkansas River. This will likely cause widepread
flooding of low lying areas near the river at least through the
Memorial Day Holiday weekend.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...

Gans... Tamaha...
Cowlington... mc key...
Cottonwood...

precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
