Issued: 3:43 PM EST Jan. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 7 PM Monday to 10 PM
EST Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow... sleet and freezing rain which is in
effect from 7 PM Monday to 10 PM EST Tuesday.

* Locations... the southern Adirondacks region... Lake George
Saratoga region... and southern Vermont.

* Hazard types... snow... sleet and freezing rain.

* Snow and sleet accumulation... 4 to 8 inches... as the higher totals
will be along the east facing slopes of the Adirondacks. 1 to 2
inches of sleet is possible in some locations.

* Ice accumulations... generally a coating to a tenth of an inch
with isolated amounts up to a quarter of an inch in the
southern Green Mountains.

* Timing... snow and sleet will move into the advisory area early
Monday evening. The snow and sleet may become heavy at times.
Freezing rain may mix with the sleet and snow across southern
Vermont Tuesday morning. The mixed precipitation of
snow... sleet... freezing rain... and rain will continue Tuesday
afternoon into the early evening.

* Impacts... snow and ice covered roadways will make for hazardous
travel. Untreated walkways... driveways and sidewalks will be
very slippery. Visibilities will be reduced to under a half mile
in areas of moderate to heavy snow.

* Winds... east to northeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts 35 to 55 mph.
The strongest gusts of 45 to 55 mph will be over southern
Vermont... especially Bennington and western Windham counties.

* Temperatures... in the upper 20s to mid 30s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
