Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 9:30 AM EST Jan. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 4 PM this
afternoon to 10 am EST Tuesday...

* locations... Wayne... Livingston... Ontario... and Allegany
counties.

* Timing... rain that will arrive around midday will change to
snow late this afternoon or this evening and continue through
late Tuesday morning... with the heaviest snow falling overnight
into early Tuesday morning.

* Hazards... heavy wet snow.

* Accumulations... 4 to 8 inches tonight and around an inch
Tuesday... leading to storm totals of 5 to 9 inches.

* Snowfall rates... an inch per hour during the heaviest snow
this evening and overnight.

* Winds... northeast 10 to 20 mph.

* Visibilities... as low as a quarter mile at times.

* Impacts... heavy wet snow will result in difficult travel
conditions tonight and early Tuesday. The heaviest snow will
fall overnight... with somewhat lighter snow lasting into Tuesday
morning. This will result in a difficult commute Tuesday
morning. The heavy wet snow may also result in a few tree limbs
coming down and isolated power outages.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning is issued when severe winter weather is
expected. Heavy snow will cause hazardous driving conditions. If
you will be traveling in the warning area you should choose an
alternate Route if possible... or you should use extreme caution if
travel is unavoidable.

* Waves... 3 to 6 feet.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 18 to 33 knots
and/or waves averaging 4 feet or more are expected to produce
hazardous wave conditions to small craft. Inexperienced
mariners... especially those operating smaller vessels... should
avoid navigating in these conditions.
