Winter Weather Advisory

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 1 PM Monday to 7 PM EST
Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow... sleet... and freezing rain which is in
effect from 1 PM Monday to 7 PM EST Tuesday.

* Locations... the eastern Catskills... Mid Hudson
valley... Schoharie valley... Mohawk Valley... helderbergs... capital
region... Taconics... Berkshires... and Litchfield County
Connecticut.

* Hazard types... snow... sleet... and freezing rain.

* Accumulations... snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 6 inches.
The higher terrain west of the Hudson River valley will see the
greatest accumulation. Some locations could have 1 to 2 inches
of sleet.

* Ice accumulations... a trace to a tenth of an inch.

* Timing... the precipitations will begin as a mixture of rain and
sleet during the late morning and early afternoon south and west
of the capital region. The precipitation will overspread the
Mohawk Valley... capital region... and Berkshires during the
afternoon as snow... sleet and rain. The precipitation will
transition to snow and sleet in the early evening and persist
into Tuesday morning north of the Mid-Hudson valley. Sleet will
mix with the rain in the Mid Hudson valley... southern
Taconics... and northwest Connecticut. All the precipitation may
change to a brief period of rain and freezing rain late Tuesday
morning into the afternoon.

* Impacts... ice... sleet... snow and slush covered roadways will
make for hazardous travel. Untreated walkways... driveways and
sidewalks will be very slippery.

* Winds... northeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 to 55 mph.
The strongest gusts will be over the Taconics... Berkshires and
Litchfield County Connecticut.

* Temperatures... in the 30s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.





Storm Warning
Issued: 3:54 PM EST Jan. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Storm Warning remains in effect from 1 am Monday to 1 am EST
Tuesday...

* winds and seas... northeast winds 25 to 35 kt with gusts up to 60
kt. Seas 6 to 10 feet.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Storm Warning means sustained winds or frequent gusts of 48 to
63 kt are expected or occurring. Recreational boaters should
remain in port... or take shelter until winds and waves subside.
Commercial vessels should prepare for very strong winds and
dangerous sea conditions... and consider remaining in port or
taking shelter in port until winds and waves subside.
