Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 2:53 PM EST Jan. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 7 PM this evening
to 7 PM EST Tuesday...

* locations... northern Cayuga... Oswego... and Lewis counties.

* Timing... from early this evening through early Tuesday evening.

* Hazards... heavy snow and sleet.

* Accumulations... 3 to 6 inches tonight and 2 to 4 inches
Tuesday... leading to storm totals of 5 to 9 inches.

* Snowfall rates... an inch per hour during the heaviest snow
overnight into Tuesday morning.

* Winds... northeast 10 to 15 mph.

* Visibilities... under a half mile at times.

* Impacts... heavy wet snow will result in difficult travel
conditions. The heaviest snow will fall overnight into early
Tuesday. This will result in a difficult commute Tuesday
morning. The heavy wet snow may also result in a few tree
limbs coming down and isolated power outages.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning is issued when severe winter weather is
expected. Heavy snow will cause hazardous driving conditions. If
you will be traveling in the warning area you should choose an
alternate Route if possible... or you should use extreme caution
if travel is unavoidable.
