Issued: 2:52 AM MDT Apr. 30, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning now in effect until 6 am MDT early this
morning...

* snow accumulations... 5 to 10 inches over portions of far
northeast New Mexico.

* Timing... snow will continue through early this morning, then
taper off after sunrise.

* Winds... north to northeast at 25 to 35 mph with occasional gusts
to 50 mph today. This will cause extensive blowing snow and near
white-out conditions at times.

* Snow levels... snow levels will be cold enough for snow at all
locations.

* Local impacts... travel will remain treacherous at best, if not
impossible. This includes U.S. Highways 64, 87 and 56.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow and blowing snow means
severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring.
Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel
dangerous. Strong winds are likely. Only travel in an emergency.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
