The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a red flag
warning... which is in effect from noon to 9 PM MDT Thursday. A
Fire Weather Watch has also been issued. This Fire Weather Watch
is in effect from Friday morning through Friday evening. The Fire
Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* Area and timing... fire weather zones located along and south of
Interstate 40, including the Albuquerque Metro area. The most
critical conditions are expected during the mid to late
afternoon both days.

* 20 foot winds... southwest and west 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45
mph, except up to 50 mph along and just east of the central
mountains on Thursday.

* Relative humidity... several hours of single digit humidities are
expected both afternoons.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

... Red flag warning in effect from noon to 9 PM MDT Thursday for
strong winds and low relative humidities...

The National Weather Service in El Paso TX/Santa Teresa has
issued a red flag warning, which is in effect from noon to 9 PM
MDT Thursday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* Wind... 20 to 30 mph with gusts near 45 mph.

* Humidity... 5 to 10 percent.

* Highest threat... is located over The Lowlands west of the Rio
Grande.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
