Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 2:53 PM MDT Aug. 24, 2016 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
southeastern Lincoln County in central New Mexico...

* until 445 PM MDT

* at 251 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to a very strong thunderstorm just southeast of
Arabela. The storm was slowly drifting toward the east and
southeast. Up to 1.5 inches of rain has already fallen just east
of Highway 368 in less than an hour. High and fast water flows are
expected in deadman and Blackwater canyons.

* Locations impacted include...
Arabela.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remember... ditches are deadly. A gentle flow of water can become a
raging torrent in a matter of minutes.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.
