... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM MDT this evening...

* location... west Central Plateau, Highlands and mountains,
southwest and Sandia and Manzano Mountains, middle and lower
Rio Grande Valley, Estancia and upper Tularosa valleys, and
the south Central Highlands.

* Winds... west and southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph,
becoming northwest mid-afternoon.

* Timing... winds are expected to strengthen this afternoon, then
peak mid-afternoon before weakening but remaining breezy this
evening.

* Visibility... locally reduced at times in dust prone locations.

* Local impacts... strong cross winds will impact north to south
oriented roads including Interstate 25. Light weight and
unsecured objects may become airborne.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Motorists should exercise caution while travelling. Sudden gusts
of wind may cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Extra
attention should be given to cross winds.

... Significant weather advisory for east central Valencia and west
central Torrance counties until 645 PM MDT...

At 612 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Rio communities north, or near Los Lunas, moving east at 40 mph.

Nickel size hail and wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph will be possible with
this storm.

Heavy rain will also be possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Valencia, Los Lunas, Belen, Peralta, Rio communities north, Tajique,
Manzano, El Cerro mission, Los Trujillos-Gabaldon and Tome.

This includes Interstate 25 between mile markers 192 and 204.

Accumulations of small hail on roads can create very slick and
hazardous driving conditions.
