... Wind Advisory in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to 9 PM MDT
this evening...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Wind
Advisory, which is in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to 9 PM MDT
this evening.

* Location... west slopes of the Sangre de Cristos, Santa Fe Metro
area, far northeast Highlands and northeast Highlands as well as
eastern Lincoln County.

* Winds... west and southwest at 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50
mph.

* Timing... winds will strengthen around mid day, then become
hazardous during the afternoon. Speeds should peak in strength
in the mid to late afternoon, then weaken through early evening,
except at the highest elevations where strong winds may persist
through tonight.

* Visibility... locally reduced at times in dust prone locations.

* Local impacts... strong cross winds will impact north-to-south
roads, like I-25 southward and northward from Santa Fe. Light-
weight and unsecured objects may become airborne.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Motorists should exercise caution while travelling. Sudden gusts
of wind may cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Extra
attention should be given to cross winds.

... Red flag warning remains in effect from 10 am this morning to
9 PM MDT this evening...

* area and timing... much of northern and central New Mexico below
significant snowpack, beginning late this morning and
continuing into this evening before diminishing.

* 20 foot winds... generally west 20 to 35 mph with gusts to near
50 mph.

* Relative humidity... 5 to 10 percent below snowpack.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the
field of this red flag warning.
