Excessive Heat Watch
Issued: 2:56 PM EDT Jul. 18, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Excessive heat watch in effect from Saturday morning through
Saturday evening...

The National Weather Service in gray has issued an excessive heat
watch, which is in effect from Saturday morning through Saturday

* Heat index values... above 105 due to temperatures in the upper
90s to near 100 degrees and dewpoints in the low 70s.

* Timing... the heat index values will rise into the mid to upper
90s by mid morning and exceed 100 degrees most of the afternoon
and early evening.

* Impacts... the combination of heat and humidity will make it
difficult for the human body to regulate its internal
temperature. Heat stroke and heat exhaustion are possible for
those who are exposed to the heat.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

An excessive heat watch means that a prolonged period of hot
temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and
high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in
which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids... stay
in an air-conditioned room... stay out of the sun... and check up
on relatives and neighbors.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in
vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during
warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal
temperatures in a matter of minutes.
