The National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Nance County in central Nebraska...
York County in east central Nebraska...
northeastern Hamilton County in south central Nebraska...
Merrick County in central Nebraska...
Polk County in east central Nebraska...

* until 800 PM CDT Wednesday.

* As of 800 am CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated that much of the warning area received at least 1 to 3
inches of rain overnight, with isolated locations over 4 inches.
Fortunately, little if any additional rain is expected today.
However, fairly widespread flooding of mainly small creeks and low-
lying areas will likely continue for several more hours.

* Some locations that could experience flooding include...
York, Central City, Fullerton, Stromsburg, Genoa, Osceola, Shelby,
Palmer, McCool Junction, Clarks, Silver Creek, Polk, Bradshaw,
Waco, Benedict, Gresham, Hordville, Archer and Thayer.

This includes, but is not limited to, the following streams and
drainages... Cottonwood Creek... coon branch Lincoln creek... Ash
Creek... Plum Creek... Prairie Creek... West Fork big Blue River...
Davis Creek... Beaver Creek... Lincoln creek... big Blue River... Silver
Creek... Clear Creek... prairie Slough.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
