Heat Advisory
Issued: 12:02 PM EDT Jul. 27, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EDT this evening...

* heat index values... up to 109 due to temperatures in the mid
90s... and dewpoints in the lower 70s.

* Timing... the highest sustained heat index values will occur in
the mid to late afternoon hours.

* Impacts... the combination of hot temperatures and high
relative humidity will result with the increasing frequency of
heat related illnesses across the advised area. If you suspect
someone having a heat stroke... call 911 immediately.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

To reduce the risk of heat illnesses during outdoor work... the
occupational safety and health administration recommends
scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned
environments... and to drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids.

Never leave children or pets unattended in a closed up vehicle
during a hot Summers day. In just 15 minutes... temperatures
inside the vehicle could easily surpass 140 degrees.

Outdoor livestock and pets will also need plenty of shade... a
well ventilated environment... and plenty of accessible drinking
water.
