Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 1:44 AM EDT May. 25, 2017 – National Weather Service

A Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams remains in effect
until 500 am EDT for Alleghany County in northwestern North
Carolina... Pulaski... Giles... Wythe... Carroll and Grayson counties
in southwestern Virginia and the city of Galax.

At 130 am EDT,

Local emergency management officials continue to report flooding
issues, with some streams still out of their banks.

The rain will gradually taper off between now and 4am, however, it
will likely take several hours for the water to recede.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

For your safety, do not drive through areas where the water covers
the Road. Turn around, don't drown. Most flood deaths occur in
vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
