Issued: 8:37 AM EDT May. 30, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Newport has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
southern Craven County in eastern North Carolina...
east central Onslow County in eastern North Carolina...
southwestern Carteret County in eastern North Carolina...

* until 1030 am EDT

* at 835 am EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Doppler radar has estimated that 1 to 2 inches has
fallen in a short period of time with an additional inch of rain
expected. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in the
advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Jacksonville, Morehead City, Newport, Swansboro, Cape Carteret,
Pine Knoll Shores, Michael j Smith Airport, Oceana pier, Rachel
Carson estuarine Reserve, Fort Macon State Park, Bogue Inlet Pier,
Hammocks Beach State Park, Cedar Point and Indian Beach.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
