... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 PM MST this
evening...

* impacts/timing: periods of moderate to heavy snow will persist
until mid-morning when a transition to sleet and freezing rain
is expected at Lookout Pass. Lower elevations will continue to
experience freezing rain into this afternoon possibly lasting
through tonight. Areas closer to the Montana/Idaho border will
experience the heaviest precipitation amounts. Refreeze on roads
is possible after sunset due to cold sub surface temperatures.
Hazardous driving conditions will be present through this
evening.

* Snow accumulations: 3 to 6 inches at Lookout Pass.

* Ice accumulations: generally less than a tenth of an inch...
potentially up to a quarter of inch for areas closer to the
Montana/Idaho border.

* Locations impacted include: Evaro hill, Highway 200 Thompson
Falls to plains, Highway 200 Trout Creek to Heron, and I- 90
Lookout Pass to Haugan

The Montana department of environmental quality has issued an air
quality alert for Deer Lodge... Flathead... Granite... Lake... Lincoln...
Mineral... Missoula... Powell... Ravalli... Sanders and Silver Bow counties
in effect until further notice due to strong temperature inversions
in valleys across western Montana. Air quality impacts are expected
to continue through Tuesday. Many counties have local indoor and
outdoor burning restrictions in place. See below for local County
information. This alert will be updated again at 900 am on 1/18/2017.

An air quality alert means that particulates have been trending
upwards and that an exceedence of the 24 hour National ambient air
quality Standard (naaqs) has occurred or may occur in the near
future.

Particulate levels in Seeley Lake are unhealthy.

Particulate levels in Butte... Frenchtown... Missoula and Hamilton are
unhealthy for sensitive groups.

When air quality is unhealthy... state and local health officials
recommend that people with respiratory or heart disease... the elderly...
and children should avoid prolonged exertion... everyone else should
limit prolonged exertion.
