Issued: 10:25 AM CDT Apr. 28, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill MO has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Grand River near Sumner.
* From Sunday evening to Wednesday evening.
* At 9:45 am Friday the stage was 10.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Sunday evening and continue to
rise to near 30.3 feet by early Monday afternoon. The river will
fall below flood stage by Tuesday evening.
* At 28.0 feet... rural roads are under water.
* At 26.0 feet... rural land adjacent to the river is flooded.
* At 23.0 feet... bottomland 1 to 2 miles south of the gage begins to
flood.

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from 7 PM CDT this evening through
Sunday evening...

The National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill has
expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of north central
Missouri and west central Missouri, including the following
areas, in north central Missouri, Carroll, Chariton, and
Randolph. In west central Missouri, Lafayette.

* From 7 PM CDT this evening through Sunday evening

* recent rainfall has set the stage for potentially significant
flooding impacts within the watch area. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4
inches are expected for portions of central Missouri into east-
central Kansas.

* Excessive rainfall could result in flooding of low-lying or
poor drainage areas... creeks and streams... as well as urban
areas. Rises on rivers will also be possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
