Watches & Warnings

Heat Advisory
Issued: 3:10 PM CDT Jul. 25, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Heat advisory now in effect until 8 PM CDT Wednesday...

* temperature... overnight lows on Tuesday night 75 to 80 degrees.
Daytime highs on Wednesday 90 to 95 degrees.

* Heat index... 103 to 107 degrees Wednesday afternoon

* impacts... many areas within and around the Kansas City Metro
have been without power for several days since the storms did
damage to the power infrastructure on July 22. The lack of
cooling centers and personal cooling units will make conditions
through the area Tuesday night through Wednesday evening more
oppressive than normal.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned
room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and
neighbors.

Objects in the sunlight will be very hot to the touch and could
lead to Burns on the skin. Animals left outside could experience
heat related illnesses.
