Flood Warning
Issued: 9:24 PM CDT May. 22, 2019 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Missouri River at Miami.
* Until further notice.
* At 7:00 PM Wednesday the stage was 30.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 30.3 feet by
Thursday morning then begin falling.
* At 29.0 feet... levees are overtopped. Farmland, homesteads, along
with primary and secondary roads behind levees are flooded. State
Highway 41 north of Miami is flooded. In addition, the Missouri
River backs up baker's ditch and floods 24 Highway about 1 mile
northeast of De Witt.
* At 28.0 feet... agricultural levees may be overtopped. Flooding of
farmland, homes, and secondary roads behind levees is possible.
* At 18.0 feet... low-lying rural areas outside of levees begin to
flood.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Missouri River at Waverly.
* Until further notice.
* At 8:30 PM Wednesday the stage was 31.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 31.4 feet by
early Thursday morning then begin falling.
* At 30.5 feet... Baltimore Bend levee may be overtopped. Widespread
flooding of farmland, rural homes, along with primary and secondary
roads behind the levee may occur.
* At 23.5 feet... rural areas along the river which are not protected
by levees flood.

the Grand River near Sumner.
* Until Monday afternoon.
* At 7:45 PM Wednesday the stage was 36.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 37.0 feet by
Thursday morning. The river will fall below flood stage Sunday
afternoon.
* At 28.0 feet... rural roads are under water.
* At 26.0 feet... rural land adjacent to the river is flooded.
* At 23.0 feet... bottomland 1 to 2 miles south of the gage begins to
flood.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Grand River near Brunswick.
* Until further notice.
* At 5:14 PM Wednesday the stage was 27.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 30.8 feet by
early Friday morning then begin falling.
* At 28.0 feet... the river begins to flood Highway 24.
* At 22.0 feet... low-lying areas along the East Bank of the Grand
River near the U.S. Highway 24 bridge begin to flood.
* At 19.0 feet... flooding of low-lying areas occurs along the West
Bank of the Grand River near the U.S. Highway 24 bridge about 1
mile west of Brunswick.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wakenda creek at Carrollton.
* Until Friday afternoon.
* At 7:00 PM Wednesday the stage was 20.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
early Thursday afternoon.
* At 19.8 feet... south Main Street along with Stonewall street and
Wabash Road on the south side of Carrollton are overtopped by flood
waters. Flood waters also threaten businesses in low-lying areas
near the creek.
* At 19.1 feet... water reaches the bottom of the south Main Street
bridge over Wakenda creek.
* At 16.0 feet... flooding of low-lying undeveloped areas along the
creek begins.
