Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 11:13 PM CDT Aug. 28, 2016 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Duluth MN has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
northwestern St. Louis County in northeastern Minnesota...
Koochiching County in north central Minnesota...

* until 700 am CDT Monday

* at 1045 PM CDT... trained weather spotters reported heavy rain in
Littlefork due to thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding.
Up to two inches of rain have already fallen. Additional rainfall
of one to two inches is expected overnight for area south of a
line from Littlefork to Kabetogama.

* Some locations that may experience minor flooding include...
Littlefork... Nett Lake... Orr... Big Falls... Ash Lake... Kabetogama...
Crane Lake... Cusson... Loman... Margie... Buyck... Pelland... Manitou...

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... country roads... farmland... and other low lying
spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.
