Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 4:59 AM EST Feb. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning in effect from 8 am this morning to 7 am
EST Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Marquette has issued a Winter
Storm Warning for heavy snow and blowing snow, which is in effect
from 8 am this morning to 7 am EST Saturday. The Winter Weather
Advisory is no longer in effect.

Hazardous weather...

* snow developing this morning may mix with freezing drizzle or
sleet this afternoon. Any mixed precipitation will end by this
evening with snow falling heavy at times tonight. The snow will diminish
   on Saturday morning.

* The heaviest snowfall rates over 1 inch per hour will occur
between 7 PM this evening and 1 am Saturday.

* Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will cause areas of blowing
and drifting snow, especially tonight near Lake Superior.

* Expect 2 to 4 inches of snow today with light ice accumulations
also possible. An additional 5 to 8 inches of snow is expected
   tonight.

Impacts...

* travel will become difficult, especially tonight as snow and
   blowing snow increase.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* a Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow,
sleet, and ice are expected. Strong winds are also possible.
This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
