Flood Warning
Issued: 5:47 AM EDT Apr. 21, 2019 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Kennebec river at Skowhegan.
* From Tuesday before midnight until further notice.
* At 05am Sunday the flow was 42887 cfs.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood flow is 35000 cfs.
* The river will continue rising to near 45838 cfs by this evening
then begin falling.
* Impact... at 35000 cfs... flooding begins at campground in Skowhegan.

Areal Flood Watch

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Monday evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Central Highlands Maine, far eastern Maine, North
Woods Maine, and Penobscot valley Maine.

* Through Monday evening

* the combination of rainfall along with any snowmelt in areas
that still have snow on the ground, will continue to lead to
significant rises on streams and rivers into early next week.

* There is high confidence that smaller streams and low lying
areas will flood through Sunday. There is also high confidence
that some area rivers will experience minor to moderate flooding
Sunday into early next week.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
