Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 10:47 AM EST Jan. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 4 PM this
afternoon to 7 am EST Tuesday...

* locations... east slopes of the Berkshires in western
Massachusetts... the higher elevations of northern Worcester
County... and extreme northwest Hartford County.

* Hazard types... freezing rain... sleet... and snow.

* Accumulations... snow/sleet accumulation of 1 to 4 inches. A
tenth to a quarter inch of ice accretion is possible across
the high terrain along the east slopes of the Berkshires and
northern Worcester Hills.

* Timing... while some light snow showers... sleet and pockets of
freezing drizzle will be possible through late afternoon.
Heavier precipitation in the form of sleet and/or snow will
develop between 5 and 8 PM this evening and potentially impact
the evening rush hour. Precipitation should transition to over
freezing rain by daybreak Tuesday and continue at times into
the afternoon.

* Impacts... untreated roads and walkways will be slippery
especially this evening into Tuesday morning. There is a low
risk that enough ice accretion may occur to result in isolated
power outages.

* Winds... northeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

Issued: 10:48 AM EST Jan. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 am EST Tuesday...

* location... western and southern Plymouth County in southeast
Massachusetts.

* Timing... strongest winds will occur tonight into early Tuesday
morning.

* Winds... northeast 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.

* Impacts... winds will increase today with the strongest of the
winds coming tonight into early Tuesday morning. These winds
will be capable of Downing a few trees and may result in
isolated power outages. These winds may also cause localized
property damage.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph are
expected... with gusts between 46 to 57 mph. Winds this strong are
capable of Downing small tree limbs and branches... possibly
causing isolated power outages. Driving can also be difficult...
especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

kt. Waves around 3 feet.

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
Harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.
