Winter Storm Watch
Issued: 3:59 PM EDT Mar. 30, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Watch now in effect from Friday morning through
Saturday afternoon...

* locations... interior northern Massachusetts north of the Mass
Pike.

* Hazard types... snow sleet and freezing rain.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches, but there
may be a swath of 6 to 12 inches north of Route 2 near the New
Hampshire border. There also may be around a tenth of an inch
of ice accretion.

* Timing... snow develops between 2 and 8 am Friday morning. The
precipitation will get heavier Friday afternoon and
evening... but may mix with or change to sleet. Some pockets of
freezing rain are also possible. All precipitation may change
back to snow Saturday morning.

* Impacts... snow and ice accumulations will make many roads
slippery. If the higher snow amounts are realized there will be
the risk for downed tree limbs and scattered power outages.

* Confidence... precipitation types and accumulations are uncertain
as the area will be close to the snow/sleet and freezing rain
line. Where this zone sets up will determine how much snow and
sleet accumulates.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
Continue to monitor the latest forecasts. Be prepared to modify
travel plans should winter weather develop.
