Issued: 3:55 AM EDT Apr. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through this afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of south central Kentucky and southeast Kentucky,
including the following areas, in south central Kentucky,
Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Wayne, and Whitley. In southeast
Kentucky, Bell, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Knott, Knox, Leslie,
Letcher, Perry, and Pike.

* Through this afternoon

* another 0.75 to 1.5 inches of rain can be expected in the watch
area today. This will bring event total rainfall amounts to
generally between 1.5 and 3 inches with locally higher amounts
possible - particularly near the Virginia border.

* Heavy rainfall could lead to flooding of low lying areas.
Additionally, fast rises on area rivers, creeks, and streams
are likely.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
