* Flood Warning for
the Indian Creek at Stateline Rd Leawood.
* Until late Sunday night.
* At 10:30 PM Saturday the stage was 15.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by early Sunday morning and
continue to rise to near 20.5 feet by Sunday morning. The river
will fall below flood stage by Sunday morning.
* At 20.0 feet... water begins to cover the portion of Lee Boulevard
located south of Interstate 435.

* Flood Warning for
the Tomahawk creek at Roe Avenue.
* Until late Sunday night.
* At 11:17 PM Saturday the stage was 14.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 15.6 feet by
early Sunday morning. The river will fall below flood stage early
Sunday morning.
* At 13.0 feet... water approaches the northbound Lane of Tomahawk
creek parkway.

southern Clay County in west central Missouri...
central Jackson County in west central Missouri...

* until 300 am CDT

* at 1102 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Kansas City, Overland Park, Independence, Lee's Summit, Shawnee,
Blue Springs, Raytown, Liberty, Gladstone, Prairie Village, Grain
Valley, Merriam, mission, Oak Grove, Bonner Springs, Edwardsville,
North Kansas City, Fairway, Mission Hills and Sugar Creek.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

southern Jackson County in west central Missouri...

* until 145 am CDT

* at 943 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen,
and additional heavy rain is expected.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Kansas City, Overland Park, Olathe, Lee's Summit, Shawnee, Blue
Springs, Lenexa, Leawood, Raytown, Grandview, Belton, Prairie
Village, Raymore, Gardner, Grain Valley, Merriam, mission, Pleasant
Hill, Oak Grove and De Soto.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
