The Flood Warning continues for
the Kankakee River at Davis
* until late Wednesday night.
* At 9 am Sunday the stage was 10.9 feet and steady.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will fall below the 10.0 foot flood stage
around 1 am Wednesday August 31.
* At 11.0 feet... flooding of secondary roads near the river begins.
* This crest compares to a previous crest of 11.3 feet which occurred
on Dec 30 2015.

The National Weather Service in northern Indiana has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
northeastern St. Joseph County in North Central Indiana...
northwestern Elkhart County in North Central Indiana...

* until 515 PM EDT

* at 308 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Elkhart... Mishawaka... Dunlap... Simonton Lake... Granger...
Osceola and Jimtown.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... urban areas... highways... streets and
underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
